The website of the California Medical Board provides information on individual physicians which can be found by going to the Board's Search Page . Information includes:

  • License Status License verification information can also be obtained over the telephone by calling 1-916-263-2382.
  • Education.
  • Address.
  • Disciplinary Actions by the Medical Board and pending disciplinary proceedings in which formal charges have been filed by the Board. Information on obtaining files on disciplinary proceedings can be obtained from the Ordering Public Documents page .
  • Felony Criminal Convictions.
  • Hospital Disciplinary Actions resulting in termination or revocation of hospital staff privileges for medical disciplinary reasons going back to January 1, 1995.
  • Amounts Paid as a result of Malpractice Judgments and Arbitration Awards. The actual dollar amount of the award is provided along with the court and docket number. No other information is provided by the Board;

Effective January 1, 1998, malpractice Judgments and Awards of any amount are disclosed. For the period January 1, 1993 – December 31, 1997, only judgments and awards of $30,000 or more are disclosed.

The laws providing for disclosure of Hospital Disciplinary Actions and Malpractice information is  California Business and Professions Code sections 803.1 and 2027.
